Let's make this as clear as possible. balance unequivocally rejects all forms of hate speech. But let's go beyond that.

balance prides itself on being a platform that moves past discourse and into organizing and creating real change on the ground. With that being said, balance will always stand in the way of organizing that we believe has the potential to promote hate speech and harm to others. In any functioning democracy, we must have clear boundaries around what we deem as being acceptable and what we view as being an evil that must be actively rooted out of our society.

So what does that look like from a policy perspective?

balance will work tirelessly to fight against and end organizing we believe promotes
racism
xenophobia
homophobia
islamophobia
anti-semitism
transphobia
misogyny
and all other forms of organizing and speech we deem to be hateful

At balance, we'll be the first to tell you that -- more often than not -- we're going to wish that we had been quicker and more effective in our process of rooting out hate speech. However, what we can promise users is that we're going to constantly be working to improve our infrastructure and mechanisms aimed at addressing hate speech. We will never compromise our values and standards surrounding hate speech just so that we can theoretically grow faster by welcoming users who intend to use our platform to commit harm.
