our mission

In 1987, the FCC abolished the fairness doctrine. The fairness doctrine required the holders of broadcast licenses to present both controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was—in the FCC's view—honest, equitable, and balanced. In the absence of this doctrine, we have taken it upon ourselves to make the coverage of the world of politics once again honest, equitable and balanced.

balance hopes to accomplish this by putting a spotlight on the activism that occurs in the trenches. As we continue to grow, we intend to provide a platform for organizers, activists, and volunteers through podcasts, books and other forms of digital media.

boots on the ground is a collection of interviews conducted with 20 different organizers, volunteers, and aides that make a campaign what it is. This book puts a spotlight on the people whose work often goes unnoticed as they walk us through their journey and dedication to public service. We get their perspective on our country's current political climate, activism in the digital age, and how they plan to continue to have an impact for the foreseeable future. This provides readers with a unique viewpoint from the members of a political campaign, a candidate's office and activist organizations that do the little things to make all the difference.
